Many businesses have closed and many jobs have been lost because of ADA/accessibility lawsuits in California. California's economy is doing much worse than many other states without our strong industry and infrastructure; many think California's hostile litigation environment is to blame. Despite this, California legislators just voted to expand the Unruh Act (i.e., the statute which offers $4,000 minimum damages for ADA/accessibility claims here). Don't they understand that a new wave of shakedown lawsuits is the last thing our state needs?
